Although1 the development in the field of medicine is quite fast nowadays, nobody has managed to create something that might replace the blood - a lifegiving liquid2 yet. As a continuous decline in the amount of blood can cause serious health problems or even end up with death, there is only one solution - a transfusion.

HOW TO DONATE BLOOD?
Firstly, you have to fill in a questionnaire14 about your general health status and lifestyle. Then, you are examined by a doctor15. Also, a sample of your blood16 is taken to be tested. Unless there are some abnormalities17, your blood can be donated.
WHAT DOES THE PROCESS LOOK LIKE?
You should start preparing the day before: get some rest, eat only light meals18, limit fatty foods19. The procedure is performed in sterile, safe conditions20. You can either give the complete blood or just its elements: platelets21 or plasma22. In the former case23 you donate 450 ml of blood in about 5-10 minutes, while in the latter case24 you donate 600 ml of plasma or 250 ml of erythrocytes and it takes longer. After this procedure you should avoid physical activity25 for about 2 hours.
